In July we rallied and gave public comment to call on the Town of Newburgh Board to keep ICE OUT of our community. Now we need the Board to go further than just stating that they oppose a concentration camp - they need to take action! Join your neighbors to ask the Town Board to adopt legislation that will

• Prohibit modifying local infrastructure capacity (including roadways, sewage systems, or water distribution systems) for the construction, development, or operation of an immigration detention facility; and
• Implement required public disclosures before considering issuing a permit for an immigrant detention facility on private property, such as the ratio of medical staff to prisoners and the track record of any service providers who will be contracted for the facility. This would be in addition to the new requirements of a 180-day public comment period and two public hearings now required by New York law.

By enacting a denial of services, the Town of Newburgh can refuse to accommodate ICE as they seek more places to lock up our neighbors. Without modifications to roads, permits to add large amounts of wastewater to what had been merchandise warehouses, and additional supply of potable water, ICE's expansion can be blocked or delayed.
